Royal Challengers Bengaluru opener Phil Salt left everyone stunned with his wonderful save off Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal in the ongoing 28th IPL 2025 match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday, April 13.

Yashasvi Jaiswal went for a big shot against Krunal Pandya, and the ball flew high towards deep mid-wicket, and for a moment, it looked like it was going for a six at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. But Phil Salt, positioned right near the boundary, made a superb effort.

Phil Salt’s stunning boundary save leaves fans in awe in Jaipur

The Englishman Phil Salt jumped up perfectly, and caught the ball with both hands in the air, but as he was falling, he couldn’t hold on and smartly pushed the ball back inside the field before touching the ground. The third umpire was called to check if Phil Salt’s body or hands touched the boundary rope while handling the ball.

After carefully looking at the replay, the third umpire confirmed that no part of Salt’s body touched the rope. And that’s how Yashasvi could get only a single, thanks to Salt’s mind-blowing efforts that saved five runs for RCB in the ongoing IPL 2025 clash.

It was a short ball from Krunal Pandya, and Jaiswal tried to slog it but didn’t time it well because the ball came on quicker than he expected. Phil Salt judged it brilliantly and made a perfect two-handed jump to save five crucial runs for his team, Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Yashasvi Jaiswal shines, but RCB fight back to restrict RR to 173 in Jaipur

Speaking about the IPL 2025 clash, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson provided Rajasthan Royals a great start before Krunal Pandya removed the skipper for 15 runs in the seventh over. Later, Yash Dayal sent Riyan Parag back to the pavilion for 30 runs off 20 balls in Jaipur.

However, the RR opener Jaiswal was looking solid, but Josh Hazlewood got the batter out. Hazlewood gave RCB a big breakthrough by dismissing Jaiswal for 75 from 47 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes. The RR opener tried to sweep a full delivery but missed it completely.

The ball hit his pads right in front, and the umpire raised his finger immediately. Jaiswal went for a review, but it was clearly out. Hazlewood’s smart bowling ended a dangerous knock and put RCB back in the game. The Royals’ current score reads 126/3 in 16 overs on the tricky pitch where the ball is stopping.

Can RR defend 173 runs against RCB?

Well, the Rajasthan Royals managed to post 173/4 in their 20 overs against the RCB, thanks to an unbeaten 30-run knock from Dhruv Jurel at the later end of the inning in Jaipur. For RCB, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood, Yash Dayal, and Krunal Pandya each scalped one wicket.

It was Rajasthan Royals' second lowest first-innings score by a team losing four or fewer wickets since the Impact Player rule started in 2023. The only lower score was 165/4 by Lucknow Super Giants against Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2024 — and that target was chased in less than 10 overs.
