Yashasvi Jaiswal scolded by Captain Shubman Gill, Dhruv Jurel calms him
PC: X

Yashasvi Jaiswal was scolded by skipper Shubman Gill for lousy fielding, despite the youngster's desperate dive to stop the ball in the inner circle, which was travelling towards the square leg fielder for a single.

India extends their domination further as it enters Day 3 of the Second Test between India and the West Indies at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium. They had dominated day 1, with Yashasvi Jaiswal leading the show with a spectacular hundred, and then skipper Shubman Gill got to a hundred on Day 2.

The spinners also gave a tough time to the West Indian batters, as they posed a huge challenge in front of them and once again castled the West Indian top order, with Ravindra Jadeja being the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets.

Watch: Shubman Gill scolds Yashasvi Jaiswal for leaking singles with lousy fielding

As the West Indian wickets fell like crumbling stones, captain Shubman Gill wanted to choke the opposition with very tight fielding. However, just then, Yashasvi Jaiswal leaked a single off to new batter Jomel Warrican, and Gill looked frustrated with the slight miss.

The left-handed Yashasvi Jaiswal dove towards his left to stop the ball, which was travelling towards the square-leg boundary; however, he missed it by a distance, and the ball travelled deep to Washington Sundar. The West Indian bowler collected a single in the meantime.

He yelled at Yashasvi Jaiswal, saying, 'Aree Jaisu,' when the ball went past him for a single. This happened when Kuldeep Yadav bowled his second ball to new batsman Jomel Warrican after having picked the wicket of Justin Greaves in that over itself. Gill had set an aggressive field with a slip, gully and a forward short leg.

West Indies lose four early wickets in the First Session of Day 3

West Indian batters Shai Hope and Tevin Imlach made it to the middle on a bright sunny day at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, when West Indies were 140/4. Shubman Gill resumes with his spin attack of Kuldeep Yadav from one end.

In the third over of his very first spell, Kuldeep tricked Shai Hope once again. A flighted delivery that was drifting away from the batter beats Shai Hope with the angle, as it beats his outside edge and crashes onto his stumps.

Soon after dismissing Hope, Kuldeep dismissed Imlach in the final ball of his very next over. Kuldeep Yadav's stock ball was misread by Imlach as he went to play it on the back foot, and it ended up hitting him on the front pad. The review was wasted, as the ball-tracking showed all three reds and no help from the Ultraedge as well.

He next dismissed Justin Greaves with another flighted legbreak delivery, which trapped the batter in front of the wickets after he attempted an audacious reverse sweep against the spinner.

West Indies trail by 300+ runs; Can the 9th wicket partnership save them from a Follow-on

At Lunch, the West Indies trailed by a mammoth 300 runs, and according to the rules of cricket, a team must reduce the trail below 200 to avoid a follow-on. The question arises whether the 9th wicket partnership between Anderson Phillips and Khary Pierre can take the Windies past the score.

With 8 wickets down for 217, the Indians would be eager to give the visitors a follow-on, since they would be eyeing to win the game and considering the West Indies' performances until now, this remains their highest batting score in an innings in the series. This is also the first time they have gone past the score of 200.
