Yashasvi Jaiswal has been facing the intense heat after India suffered a heavy five-wicket defeat against England in the opening Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley on June 24. Actually, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s viral video of dancing in front of English fans has sparked rage among the fans.

Jaiswal, who had smashed a brilliant century in the first innings, was already criticized for his fielding lapses, and now he has ignited further backlash for being caught on camera smiling and dancing shortly after dropping Ben Duckett on Day 5 at Headingley.

The timing couldn’t have been worse. Ben Duckett went on to smack a match-defining 149 as England chased down a massive 371—their second-highest successful chase in Test history and the highest ever against India at Headingley—with 84 balls to spare and five wickets in hand.

Jaiswal’s nightmare in the slips haunted India throughout the five-match Test series opener against India. He dropped three catches in the first innings alone, all off Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling, which allowed England to post 465 in reply to India’s 471 in the first innings.

But the drop that truly turned the game came on Day 5, when Duckett, just short of his hundred, offered a clear chance that slipped through Jaiswal’s hands. And then came the clip. Just minutes later, Jaiswal was seen laughing, moving to a tune, and appearing relaxed.

The left-handed batter’s behavior didn’t sit well, especially after his fielding horror show that included over seven dropped chances against England. The reaction of the fans was instant and harsh on the viral clip. The angry fans have been questioning Yashasvi’s accountability and intent.

Even fans accused the Indian opener of being casual, careless, and out of sync with the gravity of the moment, especially as India’s bowlers fought hard and desperately needed breakthroughs.

Following his shameless act, Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur’s double strike removing Duckett and Harry Brook sparked brief hope, but that wasn’t enough. Joe Root (53*) and debutant Jamie Smith (44*) sealed the win with a composed 71-run stand for England.

Shubman Gill blasts batting collapse and missed chances as India trail 0-1 in Test series

India now trail 0-1 in the five-match Test series, with the second Test at Edgbaston starting July 2. After the loss, the Indian skipper Shubman Gill rued the missed chances and slammed the lower order for the lack of support with the bat against England.

Shubman Gill said at the post-match presentation, “We had our chances; we dropped catches, and our lower order didn't contribute enough, but I'm proud of the team, and overall, it was a good effort. Yesterday we were thinking we were going to get around 430 and declare.

Unfortunately, our last 6 wickets scored only around 20-25 runs, which is never a good sign. Even today after their brilliant opening partnership, I felt we still had our chance but it just didn't go our way in this match.”
