The second and final Test between India and Bangladesh is currently underway at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first after expecting the batting wouldn’t be easy on a slightly wet surface in Kanpur.

Well, Bangladesh started well with the bat, as India had to wait until the 9th over for the first wicket that Akash Deep earned for the hosts, all thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s stunning fielding efforts on Day 1 of the ongoing second and final Test at the Green Park Stadium.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s incredible catch dismisses Zakir Hasan

On the third ball of the ninth over, the Indian pacer Akash delivered a crucial blow by dismissing Bangladesh Zakir Hasan, with Jaiswal taking an absolute stunner in Kangpur. The ball pitched just outside off tempted Zakir to defend, but it straightened enough to take the outside edge.

The ball flew towards Gully, where Jaiswal, showing remarkable reflexes, dived forward and scooped it inches off the ground. After a brief discussion, the on-field umpires decided to check with the third umpire and even faced difficulties in getting a clear angle on the catch.

Ultimately, the third umpire found no evidence that the ball had touched the ground after reviewing the footage and ruled Zakir out for a duck after a 24-ball struggle.

Jaiswal, staying low, dove forward to scoop up the ball just before it could hit the ground was another stunning effort from the youngster in the ongoing Bangladesh series.

Akash Deep on fire with the ball in the Kanpur Test

Meanwhile, Akash struck again in the 13th over, as the pacer bowled a brilliant delivery to Shadman Islam, resulting in an lbw out. He was confident in his appeal, and he immediately signaled to Indian captain Rohit Sharma for a review after the on-field umpire turned him down.

The ball, angled in from around the wicket, caught Shadman off guard as he failed to connect with the straight delivery, striking him on the pad. Given the conditions in Kanpur, height was not a factor, and the angle suggested it would have hit the leg stump.

And the Indian players erupted in celebration as the decision of the on-field umpires was overturned. Shadman departed after scoring 24 runs off 36 balls, including four boundaries, with the Bangladesh team reeling at 29/2 against India in the ongoing Kanpur Test.

We will be challenged by Bangladesh: Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma said at the toss, “We are going to bowl first. The pitch seems a bit soft, so we have to make early inroads, and we want our three seamers to make use of it. We didn't start well with the bat in the first game, but we found a way to score, and the bowlers did the job. I expect no different here (fight from Bangladesh); we will be challenged, but we have the experience to bounce back. Same team.”
