India and England are currently up against each other in the three-match ODI series opener at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and opted to bat first against India to have an early momentum on Thursday (February 6).
Even so, Ben Duckett and Phil Salt provided the English side with an aggressive start, but Shreyas Iyer managed to bring a crucial breakthrough for the Men in Blue in the ninth over. Iyer ran out Phil Salt to halt the run flow from the England National Cricket Team in Nagpur.
Yashasvi Jaiswal's stunning catch ends Ben Duckett's aggressive start in Nagpur
Later in the 10th over, it was Yashasvi Jaiswal who helped the hosts to get a second quick success in the ongoing first ODI. Well, Harshit Rana stunned Ben Duckett with a short delivery, and the English opener tried a pull but ended up getting a top edge.
The ball soared high, but Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was positioned at mid-wicket, sprinted back at full speed, keeping his eyes on the ball while looking over his shoulder. Despite the tricky angle and pressure, the Indian opener made a perfect dive at the perfect time to take a stunning catch with both hands to end Duckett's stay at the crease.
Jaiswal showed an incredible display of athleticism, as Duckett departed at 32 runs off 29 balls, including six boundaries in the ongoing first ODI in Nagpur.

Yashasvi Jaiswal's catch brings back memories of Rohit Sharma's dismissal in 2023 ODI World Cup Final
Interestingly, Yashasvi Jaiswal pulled off the wonderful catch in the same fashion as Travis Head had removed Rohit Sharma in the 2023 ODI World Cup final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, and the entire stadium fell silent on November 19, 2023.
Reflecting back on that moment, it was a flighted delivery angling away from Glenn Maxwell, which tempted Rohit Sharma to go for a big lofted shot towards wide mid-on. However, the Indian captain mistimed it, slicing the ball high into the air, and Travis Head pulled off an outstanding catch.
Travis Head sprinted back from cover point and dived forward to grab it just inches above the ground. Rohit’s aggressive route to maximize the powerplay forced him to return back to the pavilion after his brilliant 47 off just 31 balls, which included four boundaries and three sixes. And now on Thursday, the same way Yashasvi ended Duckett’s aggressive start in Nagpur.
Harshit Rana strikes twice as Harry Brook's struggle continues in India
In the same over, Harshit Rana handed the third blow to the England National Cricket Team, as Harry Brook’s poor form with the bat continued in India. Brook was the biggest failure in the recent five-match T20I series, where he could manage only 97 runs, and now in the first ODI, he was dismissed for a duck by the debutant pacer Rana in Nagpur.
Well, after removing Ben Duckett, Harshit Rana struck again, surprising Harry Brook with extra bounce. Actually, Brook felt it was a regular-length ball down the leg side and ended up gloving it to wicketkeeper KL Rahul. Rahul showcased excellent glovework, diving to his left and taking a clean catch behind the stumps, as the Englishman was dismissed for a three-ball duck.
