All eyes were on KL Rahul as he walked out to bat on day one of the ongoing first India vs Bangladesh (IND vs BAN) Test in Chennai. The right-handed batsman was making his much-awaited return to the Test team.

His last Test was in January when India and England played the first Test of the five-match series. After the series opener, KL Rahul was sidelined with a quadriceps injury. It was followed by another big setback as he failed to make the cut for the T20 World Cup that India went on to win.

He played in the ODI series against Sri Lanka but could not make any impact, registering scores of 31 and 0. Unsurprisingly, he was garnering a lot of attention since being named in the Test squad for the ongoing series against Bangladesh. Even captain Rohit Sharma talked about him during the pre-match press conference and backed him to do well.

However, KL Rahul failed to make the chance count on his comeback and could not score big. The right-handed batsman scored only 16 runs before a sharp catch from Zakir Hasan ended his stay at the crease. Rahul had his eyes set and had already faced more than 50 deliveries before throwing away his hard work.

On the second ball of the 43rd over, spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz bowled one on the pads to KL Rahul. The India star ended up hitting the ball straight towards the fielder at short leg and also failed to keep his shot down. Zakir Hasan was quick to anticipate the shot and showed brilliant reflexes to take a good low catch.

Bangladesh on top:

Talking about the Test, Bangladesh are well on top on day one of the ongoing IND vs BAN Test. Bangladesh's decision to bowl first turned out to be spot on as Hasan Mahmud took three quick wickets to reduce India to 34 for 3.

It was followed by a 62-run stand between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant. Hasan Mahmud broke the stand soon after lunch by dismissing Pant for 39. On the other hand, Jaiswal went on to complete his fifty but could not convert it into a big score. He scored 56 runs before being dismissed by Nahid Rana. At the time of writing this report, India were on 168/6.
