Pakistan keeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan came up with a massive statement after the team's debacle in the T20 World Cup 2024. He admitted that the criticism that the team is facing is justified because they didn't perform as per the expectations of the fans in the tournament.

Pakistan National Cricket Team had a torrid outing in the T20 World Cup 2024. They were among the worst performers in the tournament as they faced an early exit. This was because they didn't step up for the side in the event with bat and ball as the opposition dominated them.

Pakistan didn't have the start they would've wanted in the tournament. They faced a thrashing loss to the United States of America and then to worsen the case more for them they went on to lose against the India National Cricket Team. In both the games they had opportunities to win but they couldn't cash on.

The loss in the two games up front dented Pakistan's chances in the T20 World Cup 2024. They were dependent on Ireland to beat the United States of America but it didn't happen as the match between the teams ended in a draw and it paved the way for the USA to go ahead and eliminate Babar Azam-led side from the tournament.

Following the early exit from the tournament, Pakistan faced a lot of criticism. Many fans and pundits lashed out at the team for their poor performances and even raised calls to drop some of the players from the team and also sack Babar Azam as the captain of the team.

Talking about the criticism, Mohammad Rizwan stated that a player who can deal with all the skewering won't be able to succeed. He admitted that the entire team is disappointed with the performance and there are a lot of factors behind that. As quoted by Cricket Pakistan, he stated:

"The criticism the team is facing is justified, and we deserve this since we didn’t meet expectations. Players who can’t face criticism won’t be able to succeed.

"We are disappointed with our performance in the T20 World Cup. There are multiple reasons behind our losses. When a team loses, one can’t say that bowling and batting is doing well."

The decision about who will remain in the team and who will not is the chairman's right - Mohammad Rizwan

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman recently made a strong comment, saying that the team needs 'major surgery'. There also have been several reports that suggested that some of the players will be dropped from the team and the governing body might include fresh faces.

Mohammad Rizwan while talking about the same stated that the PCB Chairman is a hard-working person and admitted that the team requires operation. He said that the chairman would decide who would be there in the team.

"Operations are a normal thing. When a person is ill, operation is necessary. PCB Chairman is a hard-working person. The decision about who will remain in the team and who will not is the chairman's right."

Mohammad Rizwan was the highest run-scorer for Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2024. He scored 110 runs in four matches at a strike rate of just 90.90.
