Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik has reckoned that Ravi Shastri should also be assessed on the number of bilateral series he has won as the Indian head coach and not just focus on ICC trophy count. The tenure of Ravi Shastri as the Indian head coach has come to an end and Rahul Dravid has taken over the role now.

Ravi Shastri and the coaching staff Bharat Arun and R Sridhar have all opted out to not extend their tenure and a new bowling coach and a fielding coach are set to be appointed. Over the years, India has dominated the number one position in test ranking under Ravi Shastri and has also made the World Test Championship finals alongside a 50 over World cup semi-final in 2019.

Dinesh Karthik Heaps Praise On Ravi Shastri And The Coaching Staff

Dinesh Karthik lauded the coaching staff for the number of bilateral series India has been winning in the last few years and wanted people to not forget their achievement rather than their ICC trophy count. He also hailed R Sridhar and Bharat Arun for the increase in the fielding and bowling standards India has set.

“We always talk about how Shastri was not able to deliver an ICC title but we should also speak about how many bilateral series we won under him, it was second to none. I wish people remember this set of the coaching staff for all the things they achieved in terms of batting, bowling and fielding. “

“R Sridhar has been fabulous in that department, the level of fielding has gone up to a couple of notches. Going abroad, picking up 20 wickets consistently, so B Arun has done a fabulous job over a period of time. Credit to Shastri, for pulling up the team when the chips were down.” Dinesh Karthik elaborated

Dinesh Karthik Feels Ravi Shastri Has Left Indian Team On A Strong Position

Dinesh Karthik mentioned that Ravi Shastri’s legacy along with Virat Kohli as the captain coach will be one to remember for a long time and noted that he has left India in a very good position.

“Shastri’s legacy will be the bilateral series and the depth that has been created. His combination with Virat has been exceptional. This tournament should not be what should be used to judge the coaches. Shastri has left the Indian team in an incredibly strong position.” He added
