Mumbai Police humorously trolled England’s Bazball after their loss against India in the recently concluded five-match Test series. In a post on their social media account, Mumbai Police referenced India’s 4-1 victory as a quite strong password suggestion.

Before the start of the series, England’s strategy under Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum garnered significant attention due to their successful track record. Cricket analysts speculated that England’s approach might face challenges in the Indian conditions.

In the opening match in Hyderabad, the touring team secured a remarkable 28-run victory, overturning a significant first-innings deficit of 190 runs. They aim to achieve the notable feat of becoming the first team to defeat India in a Test series since 2013.

India bounced back strongly, securing four consecutive victories to claim the series. They recorded a 106-run win in Vishakapatnam, followed by victories in Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamsala. India extended their streak of 17 consecutive home Test series wins.

The England national cricket team currently occupies the eighth position in the World Test Championship (WTC) points table, with a points percentage of just 17.5. To secure a spot in the WTC final clash, they must win all their remaining matches in this cycle.

Bazball Isn’t Just Aggressive Cricket – Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin opened up about England’s aggressive strategy, noting their reluctance to rely on defensive techniques. He expressed surprise at Joe Root’s unusual batting approach, despite his reputation as a top player against spin bowling.

“The one thing that I personally understood after the first Test is that Bazball isn’t just aggressive cricket, it is defenceless cricket. They aren’t going to play a defensive shot at all. They are going to get out if they play defence. To my surprise, Joe Root also agreed to their game plan. Because if you take world cricket’s best defence rankings, Joe Root is an easy number 1 on that list against spin,” Ashwin said.

Joe Root scored only 77 runs across the first three Test matches, with the highest score of 29. In Rajkot, he attempted a risky reverse sweep against Jasprit Bumrah, resulting in his dismissal at a crucial moment when England had the opportunity to assert dominance.

However, the 33-year-old batter rebounded in Ranchi with a remarkable unbeaten 122 after switching to a more conventional batting style. He faced a lack of support from his teammates in the last game as he failed to reach another Test century in Dharamsala.

Ashwin emerged as the standout performer in the India-England Test series. The veteran off-spinner claimed 26 wickets in 10 innings. Additionally, he achieved a significant milestone by taking his 500th Test wicket during the third match of the recent Test series.
