South Africa National Cricket Team head coach Mark Boucher has said that they will try their best to get star pacer Kagiso Rabada fit for the first match of the three-match Test series against the England National Cricket Team, which will be played from August 17 at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground, London.

The 27-year-old Kagiso Rabada injured ligaments in his left ankle during the T20I series against England and as a result, he got ruled out of the third T20I against England and the two-match T20I series against Ireland.

Talking about Rabada after the series victory over Ireland, the South Africa National Cricket Team head coach said that the premier pacer is doing fine and they are trying everything in their power to get him fit for the red-ball series against England.

“KG bowled a bit today and he will be bowling a bit tomorrow. He seems to be fine. But we will try and work him back. His loads are a little bit low at the moment but we will do everything in our power to try and get him fit for the first Test,” Boucher said after South Africa won the T20I series by 2-0 against Ireland.

The 27-year-old pacer has not been having a very good run with the ball in recent times. In the two T20Is against England, after being rested for ODIs, he bagged only 1 wicket in 2 games and gave away 75 runs.

Boucher further said that the “biggest priority” for the team management is to get Rabada firing. He added that Rabada is an important member of the Test side and the “biggest goal” will be to try and get him fit for the first match against England.

“That’s the biggest priority for our Test side – to get KG firing. We know what an important part of the team he is. That’s our biggest goal: to try and get him fit for the first Test,” he further said.

South Africa National Cricket Team red-ball vice-captain Temba Bavuma has already been ruled out of the series due to an elbow injury and if Rabada fails to recover in time it would be the second major blow to the Proteas.
