“We worked together for 3 years”: Rohit Sharma finally opens up on his bond with Rahul Dravid

India National Cricket Team batter Rohit Sharma talked about his relationship with former head coach Rahul Dravid. He said that he knows everything about him, and the former head coach of the team is very special to him.
Indian National Cricket Team ODI skipper Rohit Sharma and former head coach Rahul Dravid share a great camaraderie with each other. The duo of captain and coach was successful for the team and brought great laurels to the side over their tenure together.

Rohit and Rahul Dravid joined hands after the T20 World Cup 2021 and had a poor start to their tenure as they faced a thrashing in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022. However, after that, they brought a massive change in Indian cricket.
Under Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid, India reached the final of the ICC World Test Championship 2023 and also the final of the ICC World Cup 2023. They played a magnificent brand of cricket in the tournament, as they were undefeated till the final before losing to Australia in a summit clash.
However, they decided to give it one final push and went on to win the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The India National Cricket Team went on to win the tournament undefeated and ended their ICC title drought.

Rohit Sharma talked about his bond with Rahul Dravid, saying that they have worked together for three years and he cannot forget the moments in his life with the former head coach. He added that the way Dravid presented himself inspired him a lot. Speaking to Journalist Vimal Kumar, he said:
"I know everything about Rahul bhai. We worked together for 3 years. He is very special to me. He was the one who gave me my first Indian (ODI) cap. When I made my debut in Ireland, he was the captain.
"So I can’t ever forget those special moments in my life - In Indian cricket, his name ranks among the top players and that’s deserved but for me it was how he presented himself in front of us and that has inspired me a lot."

Rohit Sharma also opened up about how Rahul Dravid gave him support as a captain, saying that the head coach told him to trust his game and lead his team. While elaborating on the same, he said:
"Rahul bhai gave me that support. He told me ‘you are matured enough to know what you are doing. I trust your game. Whatever you are doing, I understand why you are doing it.’
"He said here is your team, I am here to support you but I will challenge you and ask you questions but it’s your team, you lead them how you want".
