The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the men's central contracts for the 2024-25 season on Monday, April 21. As expected, Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan have made their return to the contracts list after being left out by the BCCI in the previous season.
Big names like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, and Jasprit Bumrah remain in the top A+ category in the latest annual contracts. Shreyas Iyer has been given the Grade B contract, while Ishan Kishan got the annual contract on Grade C.
Additionally, several young and rising Indian cricketers like Rajat Patidar, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harshit Rana, and others have been given their first-ever central contracts by the BCCI following their impressive performances across the formats.
Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan return to BCCI's central contracts list for 2024-25 season
Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan were left out of the BCCI central contracts last year after skipping domestic matches. Iyer missed a Ranji Trophy game in February 2024 due to injury concerns, while Kishan didn’t play for Jharkhand in the tournament and prepared for the IPL 2024.
However, after losing their place in the Indian team and their BCCI contracts, both Iyer and Ishan made strong comebacks in the IPL and domestic cricket. Iyer helped Mumbai to win the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25 and the Irani Cup 2024-25 and even led KKR to the IPL 2024 title.
This success earned him back a place in India’s ODI, and Shreyas Iyer went on to play a key role in India’s ICC Champion Trophy 2025 triumph. Even in the ongoing IPL 2025, the Punjab Kings captain is in good form, amassing 263 runs in 8 games so far in the tournament.
On the other hand, Ishan Kishan had an ordinary IPL 2024 season with 320 runs to his name in 14 games for Mumbai Indians. Later, MI released Ishan ahead of the mega auction, and Sunrisers Hyderabad signed the Indian wicketkeeper for the ongoing IPL 2025.

However, Ishan could manage only 138 runs in 7 games for the SRH. Even the left-handed batter is yet to make a comeback in India’s squad. He was last seen in action for India in a T20I match against Australia in November 2023. But his past and domestic performance brought him back into the central contracts list for the 2024-25 season.
Here's how fans react to Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan's return to the BCCI's central contracts list:

Several fresh faces get BCCI's annual contracts
Meanwhile, Varun Chakravarthy has been added to the BCCI central contracts list after his impressive performance in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Abhishek Sharma have received their first-ever BCCI contracts.
However, Shardul Thakur, Avesh Khan, Jitesh Sharma, and KS Bharat have been left out of the 2024-25 list. India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav finds a place in Grade B, while Hardik Pandya has been placed in Grade A, joining Mohammed Siraj, KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, Shubman Gill, and Rishabh Pant.
Notably, Pant has moved up from Grade B to Grade A for this season. Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and all-rounder Axar Patel are also part of Grade B. Sanju Samson, Washington Sundar, Shivam Dube, Arshdeep Singh, and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been included in Grade C.
