'We'll keep him quiet': Pat Cummins warns Rishabh Pant ahead of BGT 2024-25
Australia's Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins has issued a warning to Rishabh Pant ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 where Australia will play India in a five-match Test series.
Cummins recently spoke about the new trend of batting aggressively in Test cricket instead of taking time and scoring big runs. India have Rishabh Pant in the line-up who is an expert in doing this and will be a challenge for Australia.
Pant has announced his return to Test cricket with a fine hundred in the first Test match against Bangladesh in Chennai. The wicketkeeper-batter was at his destructive best and smashed his sixth Test century.

During a conversation with Star Sports, Pat Cummins was asked if the aggressive way is the new method going forward in Tests. He was asked about the batting style of Rishabh Pant and how it can affect a particular match.
Cummins responded that every team has such players and named Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh as such players in the Australian line-up who bat in an attacking mode despite any situation.
"Look I think every team has one or two of those players who can take the game on. We have got Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh as those guys. I think with those guys, you know that they are going to be aggressive. If you miss your area a little but, they are going to take the game on," Cummins said.

"We're going to try and keep him quiet" - Pat Cummins on Rishabh Pant
Speaking on Rishabh Pant's style, Cummins replied that it's his natural way of batting but Australia have now become more used to it because these shots are common in today's cricketing world. He also stated that Australia will try to keep Pant quiet in the upcoming series.
"Someone like Rishabh (Pant), he might play a reverse lap, and it's an incredible shot. That's just part of who he is. I think we have become a bit more accustomed to it nowadays when some of those ridiculous shots are a bit more common," Cummins noted.
"He is someone who has had a big influence on a couple of series. We're going to try and keep him quiet," the fast bowler added.
India have won the last two Test series they have played in Australia and Rishabh Pant has played a vital role in both the series victories. In 2018-19, Pant scored 350 runs in 4 Tests at an average of 58.33 with the best of 159* and emerged as the second-highest run-getter of the series.
In 2020-21, Rishabh Pant scored 274 runs in 3 Tests at an average of 68.50 and emerged as the third-highest run-getter of the series after Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith. The series also includes his famous knock at Gabba where Pant scored 89* and remained unbeaten till the end to take India to a memorable victory over Australia.
