West Indies Playing 11 vs Australia- 1st Test, Australia tour of West Indies 2025:
Openers: Kraigg Brathwaite, Mikyle Louis,
Kraigg Brathwaite and Mikyle Louis are the two batters who will open the innings for the home side, West Indies, in the first of the three Tests against Australia.
The duo also opened the innings in the last Test assignment against Pakistan.
Louis, who hasn't featured in a lot of matches in the longest format of the game, will be itching to get some runs under his belt in his home conditions.
Louis will get good support from former captain Kraigg Brathwaite, who would also want to get things right in the first match itself to get some rhythm for the matches to come.
Brathwaite will have to take responsibility to negate the threat of the new ball being the senior-most player in the squad with the most amount of experience.
Both batters will look to get the team off to a good start and put pressure on the opposition bowlers.
Having said that, it won't be easy going for Louis and Brathwaite against the likes of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Shai Hope, Brandon King, Justin Graves, Tevin Imlach (wk), Roston Chase (c)
The openers will have to do the bulk of the scoring because of an inexperienced middle that the West Indies have, with batters like Brandon King, Justin Graves, and Tevin Imlach making up the middle order.
The responsibility will be on Shai Hope and captain Roston Chase, who is making a comeback in the team after more than a year.
Along with the bat, Chase will have to put his hand up with the ball and stem the flow of runs from one end, in addition to marshaling his troops in the field.
One of the things that the home side, the West Indies, would be mindful of is that they lack depth in their batting department.
Bowlers: Jomel Warrican, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Jayden Seales
Windies would rely heavily on their fast bowlers to pick up early wickets for the team and get into a vulnerable Australian middle order.
The responsibility to do so would be on the fast bowling trio of Alzarri Joseph, Jayden Seales, and Shamar Joseph.
Shamar Joseph, in particular, will look to build on his match-winning performance in the final test of the two-match Test series against Australia in 2024.
Shamar will expect to get ample support from experienced bowlers like Alzarri Joseph and Jayden Seales.
Windies will surely go with two spinners in the playing XI, with Jomel Warrican, who is also the vice-captain of the side, coming in as the second spinner.
