Pakistan will face the West Indies in the first of the three-match T20I series. This article provides details about the West Indies' Playing 11 vs Pakistan for the first match of the series.
West Indies Playing 11 vs Pakistan- 1st T20I, Pakistan tour of West Indies 2025:
Openers: Brandon King, Shai Hope (c & wk)
The hosts would look at the three-match T20I series against Pakistan as an opportunity to get things right that the team was not able to do in the recently concluded T20I series against Australia.
The home team would hope their captain, Shai Hope, to once again lead from the front like he did in the majority of the matches against Australia, although the result didn't go in his team's favour.
Along with the captain, West Indies would also want to improve their batting efforts in the final five overs, as it was a phase of the innings in which the middle and lower-order batters failed to capitalize.
Having said that, the Men in Maroon are not expected to make any change in their batting lineup that took the field in the final T20I against Australia, at least for the first T20I against Pakistan.
If the case remains so, then the West Indies will open the batting with Brendon King and captain Shai Hope, both of whom have been in good form at the top of the order of late.
The duo has been able to get the team off to an aggressive start in the first six overs and has been able to get big scores under their belt individually as well.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Roston Chase, Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell, Sherfane Rutherford, Romario Shepherd, Jason Holder
One of the biggest concerns for the hosts has been the indifferent form of the team's middle order, which includes the likes of Roston Chase, Shimron Hetmyer, and Rovam Powell.
The trio hasn't been able to capitalize on the platform laid by the openers, which has been one of the key reasons for the West Indies' below-par batting performance in the middle and final five overs.
The team management would hope that the situation changes in the opening match of the series against Pakistan.
The onus will be on the middle-order batters to guide the team to what can prove to be a match-winning total.
Bowlers: Gudakesh Motie, Akeal Hosein, Jediah Blades
Like the Indies' batting, the team's bowling also struggled in the middle overs in terms of picking wickets, which resulted in them losing the matches that could have gone their way against Australia.
The likes of Jason Holder and Akeal Hosein have been able to create pressure in the powerplay by stemming the flow of runs, but the good work has been undone by the change bowlers.
Having said that, the home side is expected to go in with the same combination of four specialist bowlers that they played with in the last series against Australia.
The fast bowling department will be handled by Jason Holder and Jediah Blades, with Romario Shepherd being the third fast bowler, while the spin bowling department will be taken care of by Gudakesh Motie and Akeal Hosein.
