West Indies Playing XI vs Bangladesh- 1st ODI, West Indies Tour of Bangladesh 2025:
Openers: Brandon King, Alick Athanaze
West Indies would like to extend the momentum that they have on their side, courtesy of a win in the team's last ODI assignment, when they step on the field to take on Bangladesh in the first game of the three-match ODI series.
The visitors would bank on their batters to come good and post an above-par total on the board while batting first, to give the bowlers enough runs to play with.
The Shai Hope-led side would depend on their captain to lead from the front, like he did in the three-match OD series against Pakistan at home.
Having said that, Hope would want the openers to get the team off to a solid start for him and other middle-order batters to capitalize on.
The opening pair of Alick Athanaze and Brandon King would be entrusted to do the job to the best of their abilities.
Both batters haven't batted together a lot, but would look to put on a strong performance individually as well as in partnership.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Keacy Carty, Shai Hope (c & wk), Sherfane Rutherford, Roston Chase, Justin Greaves, Romario Shepherd
The opening batters will be followed by a middle order that wasn't in the best of form against Pakistan and would wish for a better outing against Bangladesh.
The trio of Shai Hope, Roston Chase, and Justin Greaves will be an integral part of the West Indies' batting lineup, because the three players were a part of the team that was involved in a two-match Test series a few days ago.
Hope Chase and Greaves would like to use that experience to their advantage and put on a strong show in the middle overs of the Windies' batting innings.
The above-mentioned batters would also want good support from Keacy Carty, who is expected to bat at number three in the upcoming series for the visitors.
Bowlers: Gudakesh Motie, Khary Pierre, Jayden Seales
As far as the bowling department is concerned, it will comprise Romario Shepherd and Jayden Seales as the two fast bowlers, both of whom will have to take the responsibility and pick wickets for the team.
The team's spin bowling will be handled by Gudakesh Motie, Roston Chase, and Khary Pierre, all three of whom are known for being economical in the middle overs.
The team will be confident of restricting the opposition to a below-par total if they bowl first after a magnificent bowling performance in the series decider against Pakistan, where the home team bowled Pakistan out for less than 100 runs.
West Indies will have a total of six bowling options, with Justin Graves and Romario Shepherd being the fast bowling all-rounders.
