On Friday, November 8, the Cricket West Indies (CWI) announced the 15-man squad for the first two matches of the five-match T20I series against the England National Cricket Team.

Akeal Hosein, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran and Andre Russell have made their comebacks as they have been included in the West Indies squad after missing the previous T20I series.

West Indies set to play five T20Is against England

The Men In Maroon will be locking horns with the Three Lions in a five-match T20I series starting on November 9 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

The second T20I will be played at the same venue on November 10. Then, the action moves towards the Daren Sammy Stadium in Saint Lucia, which will host the last three matches of the series on November 14, 16 and 17.

Meanwhile, the return of Akeal Hosein, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran and Andre Russell will be a huge boost for the Caribbean team. Notably, they had missed the previous T20I series against Sri Lanka due to personal reasons and West Indies had lost that series 2-1.

Alick Athanaze, Andre Fletcher, Fabian Allen, and Shamar Springer have been left out of the squad while the uncapped Terrance Hinds kept his place. Also, Matthew Forde has been included in the squad to replace Alzarri Joseph, who received a two-match suspension for walking off the field in the third ODI after disagreeing with the captain over field placements.

Also, all-rounder Romario Shepherd has been declared fit to play the T20I series against England. Notably, he had walked off the field midway through the over after suffering from cramps in the final ODI against England.

The T20 team is our most settled team - Daren Sammy

West Indies National Cricket Team have dominated in T20I cricket at home and are on a 4-series winning streak since 2023.

The head coach, Daren Sammy, knows this fact and said that the West Indies team has a lot of experienced players, and picking the playing XI gets difficult for the team management. He stated:

“The T20 team is our most settled team with lots of experienced players. However, the difficulty will be picking the eleven, as every single player is challenging for a spot in the eleven.

"As we face a very good England team, I am confident that the selected squad will continue to play a brand of cricket that allows us to win games and this Rivalry series.”
