West Indian have taken 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series after winning the first Test by 1 wicket against Pakistan at Sabina Park Stadium. The second Test match will be played at the same venue from 20th t0 24th August 2021.

On the fourth day of the Test, West Indies needed 168 runs to win the first Test. Shaheen Shah Afridi sent back the top three players inside the first 8 overs to West Indies reeling at 16 for 3. However, Roston Chase and J Blackwood then joined hands to lead the West Indies recovery. The duo added 68 runs for the fourth wicket to escape a collapse.

While Roston Chase made 22 of 56, Blackwood went on score a half-century. However, Pakistan bowlers kept taking wickets to have an upper hand in the game. Joshua de Silva, the last recognizable batsman for West Indies got out in the fiftieth over as West Indies had lost 8 wickets for 142.

What followed was a gritty knock from Kemar Roach, who held his nerves alongside Jayden Seales to help West Indies win the game in the end by just one wicket. Roach scored an unbeaten 30 off 52 balls, while Seales stayed unbeaten at 2 for 13. Earlier, Pakistan scored 217 in the first innings, and in reply, West Indies, notched 253, thanks to a brilliant 97-run knock from K Brathwaite.

In Pakistan’s second innings, Babar Azam scored a half-century as they could manage 203, giving a 168-run target to the hosts to chase.
