South Africa are looking for its first T20I series win since March 2019. Their last T20I series win was against Sri Lanka and since then they have lost against teams like England, Pakistan, and Australia while managing to draw a T20I series against India. Much like the Sri Lankan team, the South African team is going through a transitional phase. The retirement of AB De Villiers, JP Duminy and the Morkel brothers have put them on the back foot a bit.

Meanwhile, Faf Du Plessis is not a part of the side for the series which has been a big loss for the side. However, despite his absence, the side has shown courage and determination and has won two games to keep the team in search of a T20I series win. Meanwhile, in this article, we take a look at South Africa’s predicted playing XI for the decider against West Indies on Saturday.

Bavuma’s first assignment has South Africa’s full-time T20I skipper has been a rivetting one so far. He has been able to lead his side in two good wins taking the series to a decider. However, he did not have a good time so far with the bat scoring just 76 runs in the first four games. He would like to play a captain’s knock for his side in the final game.

Aiden Markram

Mark scored a couple of 20s in the third and the fourth games. He is a talented batsman and his team needs a big score from him. He would like to convert his starts into something meaningful for his team in the final T20I on Saturday.

Dussen is the other Protean batsman who has been amongst the runs in the T20Is. He scored 96 runs in the series so far with a fifty-plus score in the first game in a losing cause. Dussen will bat in the top five for South Africa.

Miller has been woefully out of form in the series so far. He has scored just 34 runs in the four games so far. In the absence of Du Plessis, Miller is the most experienced batsman for South Africa alongside De Kock. If he fails in the decider, he might even get benched for the next series.

Kagiso Rabada has not been as impactful as he would have liked to in the series so far. He has taken just five wickets in the four games h played and has looked below par. Like his partner Rabada, Nortje too has been ineffective in this series so far for South Africa. He has taken four wickets so far and has not looked penetrative. Though he has maintained a good economy, he has not been amongst the wickets. An impactful performance beckons from him in the decider.

Lungi Ngidi

Ngidi completes the formidable South African pace trio. He has been the least effective among all the Protean bowlers. He has picked just two wickets and conceded runs over 11. It has been a forgetful series for Ngidi so far.
