"What an achievement" - Twitter applauds Ravichandran Ashwin as he completes 500 Test wickets

Fans on Twitter reacted after India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin completed his 500 wickets in the longest format of the game. He achieved the feat during the ongoing third match of the five-Test series against England at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. 

Ravichandran Ashwin achieved the feat after he removed Zak Crawley in the 14th over of the England innings. The off-spinner bowled a tossed-up delivery full-on leg-stump. The batted leaned in and attempted to play the sweep shot on the backside. 

The ball from Ravichandran Ashwin landed a touch shorter than he expected. The ball caught the top edge of the bat and Rajat Patidar sprinted a few paces back at fine-leg to take it over his shoulder. The off-spinner with the scalp joined the elite list of players with 500 wickets in Tests. 

Ravichandran Ashwin became only the second India bowler to achieve the feat, joining Anil Kumble. The Veteran Indian spinner also became the fastest player to claim 500 Test wickets. He also is the fastest to 50 wickets, 100 wickets, 150 wickets, 200 wickets, 250 wickets, 300 wickets, 350 wickets, 400 wickets, and 450 wickets. 

Ravichandran Ashwin became the 9th bowler in the history of the game to achieve the feat. The off-spinner claimed the feat in just his 98th Test match. His average of 23.88 in Tests speaks a lot about his ability and why he has been rated highly in Test cricket. 

Ravichandran Ashwin has been carrying the load of the Indian bowling lineup for the last one decade in Test cricket. Be it at home or overseas conditions, the off-spinner has oozed his class and has played a huge role in many famous Indian victories. With the way he is going, it is fair to say that he can even go past Anil Kumble and become the leading wicket-taker for India in Tests.
