"What the F*ck!! Twitter rips apart KL Rahul decision by 3rd Umpire
It didn't take long to get the controversy rolling out at the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The first controversy occurred in the first session of the first Test in Perth when KL Rahul was given out in a highly debatable manner.
Left-arm quick Mitchell Starc bowled a ball from over the wicket as Rahul got beaten on the outside edge. There was a noise and Australian fielders let out a huge appeal but the umpire gave it not out.
However, there was a spike on the snicko as the ball went past the edge and Rahul was given out. At the time when there was a spike, the bat was also clipping the pad. But the umpire didn't check with that angle and was quick to show Rahul the path to the pavilion.
Rahul was clearly disappointed and shook his head indicating that he had not hit the ball with his bat. The social media and some former cricketers stood with the India batter and lashed out at the third umpire Richard Illingworth for overturning the decision.

Twitter slams the umpires for giving KL Rahul out without conclusive evidence
What the F@&* is this decision???? This is a joke! #BGT2025

What the hell, that’s not out! These umpires need to get their heads checked.

Most of the days Rahul can't bat and on the days KL look solid the umpires don't let him bat 💔 pic.twitter.com/DY3uhPW8Sz

- Unlucky, KL. 💔 pic.twitter.com/lf0UOWwmy8
What’s the rush when you have technology? What’s the point if you’re making such stupid decisions? Even with the DRS replay cropped, they didn’t check the pad or bat properly, this is a horrible call! This wicket would completely change the game.. Feel for KL Rahul. pic.twitter.com/1zannEjVaK

This fraction of second and gap in frame costed many decisons.

There was no conclusive evidence to overturn the original decision.
BTW Well Played KL Rahul 👏
A great knock and hopefully a good series ahead.#CricketTwitter#KLRahul pic.twitter.com/28yDlrPSzT

Third umpire asked for another angle which wasn't provided. I'd assume he'd only ask for another angle if he wasn't sure. Then if he wasn't sure, why did he overturn the on field not out call? Poor use of technology and proper protocol not followed. KL hard done by. #AUSvIND

You don't have to rush a decision when you have so many angles to review. Especially if you are overturning the on-field umpire's call.

Am still trying to figure this...the claim was we have million cameras when the test match started & just when u need the other cameras they are conveniently unavailable for KL's decision..it was such a big spike for maybe a feather if there was any... surprising #justsaying

Good knock from KL Rahul
There was no conclusive evidence for Richard Illingworth to overturn the original decision. But unfortunately, he had to go to the pavilion. Rahul was dismissed for a well-made 26 off 74 balls. He was the only India batter who looked assured at the crease for a long period.
Out of 51 runs that India scored in the first session, Rahul scored more than half of the runs. His innings are a good sign for him and the team ahead of a long Test series. India was 51-4 at lunch on Day 1.
