Former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt while giving his opinions on the impact of white-ball captaincy change in Indian cricket said that people will now attach good or bad things happening in Indian cricket to Rohit Sharma instead of Virat Kohli.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) senior selection committee has appointed opening batsman Rohit as new One Day Internationals (ODI) and T20 Internationals (T20I) captain of the Indian team. Also, Rohit has been named as vice-captain in Test cricket.

Meanwhile, it was reported that the BCCI had asked Kohli to step down as ODI skipper within 48 hours but Kohli didn’t do it so the board sacked him and named Rohit as the new captain.
Speaking on his YouTube channel about the big changes made in Indian cricket Butt said: “Rohit Sharma is no longer the stand-in captain, where he has the pressure only for one match or one tournament.
“People will talk about him now. For a change now, whatever good or bad happens, people will attach it with Rohit Sharma’s name and not Virat Kohli. So it is a different feel altogether.”
Under Rohit, Sharma India have won 8 out of 10 ODIs and he also led India towards Asia Cup victory in 2018. The first assignment of Rohit as permanent ODI captain will be the upcoming ODI series in the South Africa tour.
Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma Are So Seasoned, So Experienced Now That I Can Expect Them To Handle Themselves – Salman Butt
Former Pakistan skipper was questioned by a fan if the newly-appointed limited-overs skipper Rohit Sharma is capable to lead the team even being on a rough patch.
To which Butt replied: “These players (Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli) are so seasoned, so experienced now that I can expect them to handle themselves well in ups and downs. It remains to be seen how Rohit Sharma does it because he is the permanent captain now.”
