Who is Praful Hinge? SRH star who stopped Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s dominance in IPL 2026

Praful Hinge, a name not known to anybody, to a name who will be remembered by everybody in the history of the IPL. The paceman has sent shockwaves through the Rajasthan Royals dugout with the most iconic spell ever in the history of the competition.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad have been criticized for not having picked many good bowlers to back their strong batting lineup, which has managed to score 200+ runs on several occasions this season as well. However, the SRH team have just managed a single victory after playing some good cricket across four games.

However, the Sunrisers made some shocking changes to their squad in the fifth match of the season, as they host the Rajasthan Royals at their home ground. The Royals are the most explosive batting unit of this edition so far.

Who is Praful Hinge? The new SRH bowling sensation

The Sunrisers Hyderabad finally announced a change to their bowling attack and brought in the two new pacers into the side. It includes the Vidarbha paceman Praful Hinge, who was picked as a result of some excellent scouting by the SRH scouts, despite the bowler having played just one domestic T20 game.

Hinge made a stunning start to the season, dismissing the RR opener for a duck on the very first ball he bowled to him and then going on to shock another in-form batter in Dhruv Jurel, who was cleaned up on the second ball he faced.

Praful Hinge's Early life and Domestic career

Praful Hinge is a young right-arm seamer from Vidarbha who has worked his way to the IPL after some success in the Indian domestic circuit. In just 10 first-class matches, the 24-year-old has claimed 27 wickets at an average of 26.7, highlighting his ability as a workhorse.

However, his exposure to white-ball cricket has been very limited until now, as he has not featured in more than 7 white-ball games, including six List A games and a T20 match. In white-ball cricket, he picked just 6 wickets from 7 matches, while his IPL story has surely shown his calibre in the format. According to iplt20.com, the Sunrisers Hyderabad picked him for the cost of INR 30 lakhs.

Praful Hinge sets IPL record with dream debut

Praful, a name never heard before, made his debut in the IPL for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. In the very first over of his debut game, he wreaked havoc at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Praful dismissed the three RR batters in his first over, which was also the opening over of the innings. In the long history of the IPL, comprising cricket action over 19 years from world-class pacers and spinners, no one had ever picked 3 wickets in the opening over of the game.

Hinge picked three wickets in the opening over and became the first player in the history of the competition to have done so. He will be remembered in the history of the competition for this unique record on debut.
