Australia and England players to wear black armbands

Players from both Australia and England have confirmed that they will be wearing black armbands during the third Test in the Ashes at the Adelaide Oval to pay respect to the victims of the shooting at Sydney's Bondi Beach.

As per the initiatives from Cricket Australia, the national flags of both nations will be flown at half-mast, and a moment of silence shall be observed by the players before the "Welcome to Country" and the national anthems of the two teams, respectively, ahead of play on the first day of the Test.

The Australian folk singer John Williamson will also be seen delivering a performance in honour of the dead. He will be singing his song 'True Blue' ahead of the game.

Skipper Pat Cummins reveals being 'horrified' after the Bondi Beach attack

Australian Captain Pat Cummins made his return to the Australian Test XI after a long absence. He has been out of the field since July and also missed the first two Ashes games, where Steve Smith led the Aussies to two wins.

However, as the captain returns, he reveals how terrified he was during the Bondi Beach incident since the Australian skipper resides very close to the area.

"Like most other Aussies and people around the world, [I was] horrified watching on," Cummins said after training on Tuesday. "I'd just put the kids to bed and flicked the news on as that was coming through. My wife and I were watching in disbelief."

He revealed that the place where the attack took place is just around the corner from where his house is. He revealed that the incident hit his home pretty hard, since he takes his kids out to the beach pretty often.

Pat Cummins confirmed that the Aussies will be donning the black armbands. "We'll wear armbands throughout the Test and commemorate the victims," said Cummins.

"It was silence from everyone in there, seeing that happen" - Ben Stokes

England skipper Ben Stokes, who is also in Australia and witnessed the coverage of the attacks on TV, he alongside the entire England dugout were terrified. He also stated that it was an incredibly sad day for Australia.

"What happened a couple of days ago was an awful thing to watch unfold," Stokes, England's captain, said. "We were sitting in our team room, and it came up on the news about what was happening. It was silence from everyone in there, seeing that happen."

He further went on to add that this was incredibly sad for the country, the place, and the world. He also claimed that it was a horrible incident to witness and everyone, even the English players who witnessed that, has been affected by it, since such incidents often affect perspectives.
