Although Gautam Gambhir cannot be compared to MS Dhoni who won so many titles for India, there are no doubts that he is a true match-winner like the former Indian skipper. Gambhir led Kolkata Knight Riders to the IPL 2024 title after taking over the mentor.

During a panel discussion, former India opener Ranji Trophy stalwart Wasim Jaffer, former India pacer Varun Aaron, and former Australia cricketer and SRH coach Tom Moody talked about the future of Indian cricket.

During the chat, they shared their opinions on whether Gautam Gambhir will take over the head coach role. Varun Aaron feels Team India will not pick a mentor for the India team as they already have a head coach.

Wasim Jaffer also feels that Gautam Gambhir will not take the job of a head coach as he likes to perform the work of a mentor. Hence, he is like a man who manages the players. Notably, KKR can also not leave Gautam Gambhir after the achievement.

Hence, he might not skip the role of KKR mentor and in such a case, it will be tough for him to become India's head coach in the future. Have a look at the video and the entire conversation below.

Watch- Experts tell if Gautam Gambhir will be India's Head Coach in the future

Varun Aaron: He is going to be a head coach, in my opinion. I don't think India will have a mentor. If they have a coach, I mean, they'll obviously have a head coach".

Wasim Jaffer: I think he'll work as a mentor anyway, because at that level, you don't really need a coach-coach. You need a man-manager type of a guy.

Anchor: The biggest obstruction to that will perhaps be the KKR management, who do not want to lose Gautam Gambhir, you would think.

Tom Moody: Look, at the end of the day, I think it's down to him. Simple as that. If he wants it, it's his. Simple as that. Regardless of the result today, it's whether he wants it. And it's a huge responsibility, a huge commitment. Maybe he thinks that, I've only had this one year back at KKR.  My journey here is only just beginning. Maybe that journey of the Indian coach is in another three years' time,  but I want to complete the story here first, because I've only taken the first step with this franchise.

Rahul Dravid is set to leave the role of India's head coach after the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. He formed a powerful side and made a strong squad. However, it was not enough.

Dravid built a powerful team like a garden, however, the team could never taste the fruit. If we talk about ICC events, India did win the Asia Cup 2023 final under him but failed to win the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 at home. India, who were the red-hot favorites to win the title under Rohit Sharma on their home soil, lost the final battle to Australia who clinched the crown with ease.

Now, Dravid has another chance to prove his mentorship by winning the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in India. The tournament takes place in West India in June and starts on June 1. After that, Dravid will step down as the coach of the Indian Team.

Will Gautam Gambhir become Team India's Head Coach?

Now, there will be space vacant after the T20I World Cup 2024 for the head coach. Will Gautam Gambhir become India’s next head coach would depend on how India performs in the World Cup.

Interestingly, if India wins the T20 World Cup, it will be a big achievement for the side under Rahul Dravid. India has not won any ICC title since 2013 and they are desperate for one.

If they do it in T20 WC 2024, Dravid might be offered another term by BCCI and Dravid might take it. If they lose, the Board might go to Gautam Gambhir, who has proved his leadership skills through IPL 2024.
