Days after speculations, England all-rounder Will Jacks has finally arrived in India and linked up with the Mumbai Indians for the IPL 2026 season. He joined the squad ahead of their next clash, which will be against the Chennai Super Kings.

Will Jacks has joined the team at a crucial point of the tournament. After a series of defeats, MI has finally bounced back to reclaim a winning streak. The way they thrashed the Gujarat Titans in their previous match, fans can dream about a new dawn again. With Jacks in the squad, the team is now looking more balanced and powerful on paper.

Will Jacks had a decent outing with the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025

The England all-rounder has a good reputation both for batting and bowling skills. In the previous season, the 27-year-old performed in a promising way for the Mumbai Indians. In 13 matches and 11 innings in the IPL 2025 season, Jacks scored 223 runs, averaging 23.30, with a strike rate of 135.46. He was also effective with his spin bowling, 8 wickets in 8 innings at an economy rate of 5.56.

As he joined the team ahead of their clash against the Chennai Super Kings, fans are speculating whether he will feature in the match. According to a Cricbuzz report, Will Jacks has joined and started training with the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, soon after completing the lineup process.

"After days of anticipation, Will Jacks has arrived in India. The English all-rounder was seen training with fellow Mumbai Indians players at the Wankhede ahead of their crucial clash against Chennai Super Kings on Thursday," the report suggested.

Will the England all-rounder play vs the Chennai Super Kings?

"Jack's arrival is a big boost to the Mumbai Indians' campaign, which now seems back on track after a faltering start. As a big-hitting middle-order batter and a quality spinner, he strengthens both MI's batting and bowling, although MI have good overseas spinners in Allah Ghazanfar and Mitchell Santner," it further added.

However, there is no clear confirmation about his first match in the ongoing IPL 2026 season. He may have to wait for his turn, as the team already has two performing spinners in the form of Mitchell Santner and Allah Ghazanfar.

What will be his role for MI in this season?

The batting position of Will Jacks will be interesting to see if he gets the opportunity to play against the Chennai Super Kings on April 23 in Mumbai, as he is considered a versatile batter. He has opened once for MI in the past, although in recent times he has batted at No. 6 and 7 for England.

He performed significantly well for the England cricket team in the T20 World Cup 2026. He was one of the key performers behind the team's run to the semi-finals. In the tournament, the spin bowling allrounder claimed four Player-of-the-Match awards.
