Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) are all set to face each other in Match No. 51 of the ongoing IPL 2024 at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday, May 3.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is currently placed in the second spot in the IPL 2024 points table with 12 points from nine games, while Mumbai Indians (MI) find themselves in the ninth spot with only six points from 10 games.

Interestingly, there's a bit of history between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the Wankhede Stadium, and KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan. Back in May 2012, Shah Rukh Khan was banned from entering the Wankhede Stadium following an unfortunate incident.

Joy Bhattacharjya recalls Wankhede Stadium featuring Shah Rukh Khan

After an IPL 2024 game where KKR defended 140 runs against MI, thanks to Sunil Narine's 4/15, Shah Rukh Khan was involved in a heated altercation with a security guard and officials from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) at the Wankhede Stadium.

This altercation led to a police complaint against the Bollywood superstar for hurting the security guard and MCA officials and bullying them. However, Shah Rukh wasn't arrested, but he was banned from entering the Wankhede Stadium for five years in 2012.

Later, the KKR co-owner revealed that he was provoked when security guards touched a group of children he was accompanying, including his daughter. However, despite the ban, SRH was allowed at the Wankhede Stadium officially by the MCA in 2015.

Now, as the Wankhede Stadium is set to host another MI vs. KKR clash, former KKR team director Joy Bhattacharjya has made interesting revelations about the incident. Bhattacharjya said that Shah Rukh didn't abuse anyone, and his daughter was verbally abused.

Bhattacharjya wrote on the social media: “The last time KKR beat MI at the Wankhede, I was still a part of that dugout. It's been a while, but today might just be the day! KKR won two championships after that incident. And he did not abuse, I was there. And the next time, stay calm when someone cat calls your young daughter.”

Shah Rukh Khan regularly attended KKR games this season

Notably, Shah Rukh Khan has attended many Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) games this season, and he was present during all their home matches at Eden Gardens. However, the spotlight now shifts to whether he will make an appearance at the Wankhede Stadium for the first time in 12 years on Friday when KKR will take on the Hardik Pandya-led MI.

It will be the first encounter between the two teams, MI and KKR, this season. However, KKR has won only one match of their nine outings at the Wankhede Stadium. So, it will be interesting to see whether MI will pull off an unexpected victory to stun the KKR yet again.

On the other hand, Joy Bhattacharya served as KKR's team director for 7 years, and during his stint, the franchise won two IPL titles in 2012 and 2014. However, the Kolkata team looks in a great position this season to add yet another title to their cabinet.
