Rohit Sharma took over the charge of Mumbai Indians from Ricky Ponting in 2013 and since then the Mumbai-based franchise has won five IPL trophies under his leadership. Rohit Sharma has been one of the most successful captains in the IPL and has a tremendous record for MI. Fans reckon that he should have been given an option to retire or step down as the skipper but Mumbai Indians announced Hardik as the captain ahead of the auctions.
Hardik Pandya started his career with Mumbai Indians in 2015 and has played most of his career under Rohit Sharma. He moved to Gujarat Titans in 2022 and he got the opportunity to lead the side. He led the Ahmedabad-based franchise to their first title in 2022 and then also took them to the finals in 2023 where they were defeated by Chennai Super Kings.
