Women's T20 World Cup 2024 schedule and groups unveiled by ICC

The International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed on Sunday, May 5, the groups and schedule for the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024, which is set to take place in Bangladesh in October. The upcoming mega event will be a 10-team affair scheduled in Bangladesh later this year.

India finds themselves in Group A, alongside powerhouse teams like six-time champions Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, and a finalist from the Women's T20 World Cup qualifiers.

Group B comprises South Africa and England, along with 2016 champions the West Indies, hosts Bangladesh, and another finalist from the qualifiers for the ninth edition of the Women's T20 World Cup.

Here are the groups for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024

Group A: Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Qualifier 1

Group B: South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Qualifier 2

Meanwhile, each team will compete in four group-stage matches in the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, which are scheduled for October 17 and 18. The final of the mega event will be held in Dhaka on October 20.

Over the course of 19 days, a total of 23 matches will be played across Dhaka and Sylhet in the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup 2024. Additionally, reserve days have been allocated for both the semi-finals and the final if necessary due to any unforeseen circumstances.

On the other hand, the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 is set to kick off on October 3 in Dhaka. In the opening match, England will face South Africa, while the host Bangladesh will take on one of the finalists from the Women's T20 World Cup qualifiers on the same day, October 3.

The defending champions, Australia, will kick off their Women's T20 World Cup 2024 campaign on October 4 in Sylhet against one of the finalists from the qualifiers. Meanwhile, India will begin their Women's T20 World Cup 2024 campaign on October 4 in Sylhet against New Zealand.

The finalists for the Women's T20 World Cup qualifiers will be determined on Sunday, May 5, with Sri Lanka, the UAE, Ireland, and Scotland competing in the semi-finals of the ongoing qualifiers. Notably, the Indian Women’s cricket team will play 3 T20Is on July 5, 7, and 9 against South Africa before the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup 2024 in Bangladesh.
