Former Indian all-rounder Kirti Azad has backed skipper Rohit Sharma amid all the criticism that he is facing for his performances. He said that in India, everybody who watches cricket on TV calls themselves experts and gives their verdict.

India National Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma has come under massive criticism for his poor performances in Test cricket. The premier batter, along with his struggles with the bat, hasn't been up to the mark as a leader as well, and under him, the team has faced some huge losses.

Rohit Sharma, under whom India National Cricket Team faced a whitewash at home in Tests, missed the first Test in Australia. But in his absence, Jasprit Bumrah captained the team and took the team to a massive 295-run win at the Optus Stadium in Perth.

Rohit Sharma has scored 142 runs in the last 6 Tests

Rohit took charge of the team in Adelaide but under him India National Cricket Team faced a horrible 10-wicket loss. They looked clueless with the bat and ball as both batters, as well as pacers, struggled to get going with the pink ball as Australia made a strong comeback.

In the Adelaide Test, Rohit made a selfless move as he sacrificed his opening position and allowed KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal to continue at the top. This was because the duo scripted history as they put on a double-century partnership, which is the highest by an Indian opening pair in Australia.

But the move to bat in the middle order didn't work for Rohit Sharma, as he bagged failures in both innings. In the last 6 games, the India National Cricket Team skipper has scored 142 runs at 11.83, and this has seen the batter getting criticized a lot, and there are calls related to him getting sacked.

“It’s very strange in our country; if somebody doesn’t do well, he should be dropped - Kirti Azad on Rohit Sharma

But Kirti Azad claims that it's strange that people are raising calls for Rohit Sharma to get dropped after a few failures. While lashing out at the criticism of India's National Cricket Team skipper, he explained:

“It’s very strange in our country; if somebody doesn’t do well, he should be dropped. If somebody loses, then his captaincy should go. The problem is 140 crore people because they see it on television where everybody is an expert,” he said, as quoted by News 18.

Kirti Azad also added that Mohammed Shami is the only player that the India National Cricket Team is missing. He believes that if the pacer was there with Jasprit Bumrah, it would've been a lethal bowling attack. He elaborated:

“The only player missing in this team is Mohammed Shami. If Mohammad Shami was there with Bumrah and Mohammad Shami, it becomes a very lethal, potent bowling attack."

The second Test was more of a surrender by India than a victory by Australia - Kirti Azad

Kirti Azad also added that it was a surrender by the India National Cricket Team in the second Test. While stressing the fact that the Rohit Sharma-led side is known for comebacks, he added that the team needs to fight hard in Gabba. He concluded:

“The second Test was more of a surrender by India than a victory by Australia. They are known for their comebacks. So, it’s a tough opponent, and we have to fight and see to it that we put them behind in Gabba."
