"Worst f**kin...": Adam Gilchrist backs Jason Gillespie to steer Pakistan Cricket through its toughest times

Legendary Australia wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist was all praises for his former teammate Jason Gillespie and believes that he can handle the situation in Pakistan cricket really well.

Jason Gillespie has had a tough start to his tenure as Pakistan's head coach in red-ball cricket as the Men in Green suffered a shocking defeat to Bangladesh in the first Test of the two-match series.

After the loss, all those involved in Pakistan cricket faced plenty of scrutiny regarding the poor performance of the team. Not only the players, but also the new head coach Jason Gillespie also faced wrath for poor team selection for the match.

Adam Gilchrist feels Jason Gillespie can successfully handle the difficult situation in Pakistan cricket

During a discussion on Club Prairie Fire, Adam Gilchrist spoke about Jason Gillespie's excellent diplomatic skills during his playing days. Gilchrist believes that Gillespie has the ability to handle difficult situations well. He also mentioned that Jason Gillespie has excellent diplomatic skills. "He handles challenging and difficult situations very well. I think I may have mentioned this. Stop me if I have where years ago in India, just to get himself out of a sticky situation where we got beaten in two days in a Test match on what was an atrocious cricket pitch like simply not fit for standard, Dizzy (Jason Gillespie) was asked about it and clearly wary of any match fine or games ban

"He simply said, 'Look I can't comment on that but a mate of mine messaged me and said (that) it's the worst fu*kin pitch he's ever seen'," Gilchrist said.

"So, that's the diplomacy of Dizzy, that's his ability to deflect and make sure he shields those around him and doesn't get himself into any trouble. So I'd expect a lot of the same from the big fella," he added.

Jason Gillespie's coaching experience

Gillespie was an aggressive fast bowler during his time who could also contribute useful runs down the order with the bat. He has picked up more than 400 wickets in international cricket and also has a double-hundred to his name in Test cricket.

Jason Gillespie has a good amount of experience of working as a head coach. He has experience of coaching in County Cricket, IPL, and Big Bash League as well. But his tenure with Pakistan is his first assignment as a coach of an international team.

Meanwhile, Pakistan cricket is going through one of its worst times currently. The team bowed out of the T20 World Cup 2024 from the group stage after the shocking defeat to the USA. But the recent defeat to Bangladesh has not served them well and they will be aiming to bounce back with a win in the second match.
