Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are reportedly planning to release pacer Yash Dayal ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction following his involvement in an ongoing legal controversy. The 27-year-old cricketer has been accused by a woman of exploitation under the pretext of marriage.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are coming off their most successful Indian Premier League season. The team clinched their maiden IPL title after years of struggle. Several key players played crucial roles throughout the campaign, with Rajat Patidar becoming the first captain to lead RCB to the championship.
All franchises, including RCB, are set to submit their list of retained and released players by Saturday, November 15, ahead of the upcoming auction, which is likely to take place in December.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru Likely to Release Yash Dayal
Royal Challengers Bengaluru are likely to release Yash Dayal ahead of the next IPL season. The franchise had retained him for ₹5 crore after his impressive performances in the 2024 campaign, which included a final over against the Chennai Super Kings. However, his form dipped during IPL 2025.
The left-arm pacer played 15 matches and took 15 wickets at an average of 36.15 and an economy rate of 9.59. His inconsistency with the ball added pressure to RCB’s pace attack, which already struggled to contain runs throughout the season.
Off the field, Dayal made headlines for the wrong reasons after being accused by a woman of exploitation under the pretext of marriage. The RCB management will have to take a tough call on whether to retain or release him before the upcoming season.
Yash Dayal Banned from Uttar Pradesh T20 League
Yash Dayal has been facing serious legal troubles. In July, an FIR was registered against him under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), accusing him of sexual exploitation, physical violence, mental harassment, and cheating through false promises of marriage.
In response to the allegations, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) took disciplinary action by banning Dayal from the UP T20 League in August. He was also excluded from the Uttar Pradesh squad for the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season.
With the case still under investigation, Dayal’s cricketing future remains uncertain. The left-arm fast bowler is also likely to miss the Indian Premier League 2026 season.
Yash Dayal Made Hus IPL Debut For the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022
Yash Dayal began his professional career with Uttar Pradesh in 2018. He has taken 84 wickets in 27 first-class matches and 66 wickets in 71 T20 appearances.
Dayal made his IPL debut for the Gujarat Titans (GT) in 2022, where he picked up 11 wickets in nine matches and played a key role in their title-winning campaign under Hardik Pandya. After two seasons with the Titans, he was acquired by Royal Challengers Bengaluru for ₹5 crore at the 2024 auction.
He became a vital part of RCB’s bowling attack and contributed significantly to the team’s maiden IPL title triumph, where they defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final.
