Team India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal spent nearly an hour in the practice nets after falling for a two-ball duck on Day 2 of the ongoing warm-up match against Sri Lanka Cricket XI. The left-hander immediately returned to work on his batting and bounced back strongly during the opening Test in Galle.
India are using the three-day practice match to fine-tune their preparations for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, which begins on August 15. After Sri Lanka Cricket XI declared at 363/8, the visitors suffered an early setback when Jaiswal was dismissed in the opening over of their first innings.

According to sports journalist Ankan Kar of Sports Now, Yashasvi Jaiswal spent nearly an hour in the practice nets after his early dismissal. The left-handed opener worked on his batting under the guidance of India's support staff to regain confidence before the first Test.

Jaiswal's dismissal came on just the second ball of India's innings. Sri Lanka Cricket XI pacer Vishwa Fernando bowled a full delivery outside off stump, and the opener went for an aggressive cut shot instead of leaving it. The ball took a thick outside edge and flew towards backward point.
Dilum Sudeera reacted quickly, diving to his right to complete a sharp catch. Jaiswal walked back without opening his account and appeared disappointed with the shot that brought an early end to his innings.
Yashasvi Jaiswal Eyes Return to Form Ahead of Sri Lanka Tests
Yashasvi Jaiswal has been struggling in red-ball cricket in recent matches. Across his last five Test innings against South Africa, he scored 12, 0, 58, 13, and 24. The upcoming Sri Lanka series is an important opportunity for the young opener to return to form.
Despite that lean run, Jaiswal has an outstanding record in Asian conditions. He has scored 1,417 runs in 15 Tests in Asia at an average of 54.40, including three centuries and eight half-centuries.
India will also look to collect valuable World Test Championship points in Sri Lanka. Jaiswal should give strong starts at the top of the order that could play a key role in helping the visitors begin the series on a positive note.
Devdutt Padikkal Scores Century in Warm-Up Match
After Jaiswal's early departure, KL Rahul and Devdutt Padikkal steadied the innings with a 96-run partnership for the second wicket. Rahul made 40 from 67 balls before getting out, while Padikkal continued to anchor India's innings against the Sri Lanka Cricket XI attack.
Padikkal reached his century with a boundary off Ramesh Mendis on the fourth ball of the 40th over. He retired out on 103 from 121 deliveries after hitting 14 fours, giving other batters valuable match practice.
India then suffered another setback as wicketkeepers Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel failed to make an impact. Pant was dismissed for two off five balls, while Jurel managed only one from nine deliveries. India reached 180/5 after 50 overs, with Ravindra Jadeja and Manav Suthar at the crease.
