History shows that whoever gets a hundred in Perth on their maiden Australia tour, becomes legend. Well, it will only tell the time when the young Indian opener will be in the future, but the left-handed batter has already made a plethora of records with his gritty hundred in the Perth Test.

Yashasvi Jaiswal becomes the only third batter to smash a Test hundred on his maiden appearance in whites in Australia. Before Jaiswal, ML Jaisimha (101 runs in Brisbane in 1967-68) and Sunil Gavaskar (113 in Brisbane in 1977-78) achieved this feat. Notably, all three tons came in India’s second innings.
Yashasvi (115*) has also surpassed the batting legend Sunil Gavaskar’s 113 to become an Indian batter with the best score in his maiden Test match in Australia.
Meanwhile, Jaiswal, with three Test centuries in 2024, joined the Indian legends Sunil Gavaskar (4 in 1971), Vinod Kambli (4 in 1993), Ravi Shastri (3 in 1984), and Sachin Tendulkar (3 in 1992) in achieving this feat before turning 23.
Notably, Yashasvi is the first Indian opener since KL Rahul (110, SCG 2014-15) to score a Test hundred in Australia. On the other hand, his four Test centuries placed him alongside legends Gavaskar, Kambli, Shastri, and Tendulkar for most hundreds in a calendar year before turning 23.
