You Definitely Raised The Bar - AB de Villiers On Virat Kohli's Resignation As Test Captain
Former South African cricketer AB de Villiers praised Indian cricketer and close friend, Virat Kohli after the latter announced his resignation as the Test captain of the Indian team.
Kohli stated that he will step down from his post as the captain following the conclusion of the 3-match Test series between South Africa and India. He goes out as the most successful Test captain of India with 40 wins in 68 matches.
Speaking about the resignation, de Villiers congratulated the Indian skipper and stated that he had raised the bar for future captains to come. “Well done, Virat! U most definitely raised the bar,” de Villiers wrote.

Kohli had already stepped down as the T20I captain in September 2021 and proceeded to give up Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) captaincy as well. He was subsequently removed as the ODI captain with Rohit Sharma taking over.
However, he was expected to continue as the Test captain considering that is his favorite format. Therefore, this resignation comes as a huge surprise to the cricketing fraternity.
He had revealed his intention to step down to the Indian team and management a day before he made it known on social media. Many cricketers congratulated and celebrated Kohli’s captaincy stint.
