Former Pakistan captain, Ramiz Raja heaps rich praises on the system of cricket in India after debutants Krunal Pandya and Prasidh Krishan helped India defeat England in the first ODI on Tuesday in Pune.
The performances of Krunal and Krishna come days after Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav struck match-winning fifties in their maiden innings; only after a young group of players conquered Australia.
Ramiz Raja applauds the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for building a strong and effective cricket system – domestic plus overseas tours, abetted by the IPL – which makes players ready for international cricket and has also created a vast and talented pool of cricketers.
“Your system is strong and your bench options are very good. I believe this is an outstanding time for the youngsters to be a part of this Indian dugout. The reason being in this dugout, you will find direction and aggression,” Ramiz Raja said in his YouTube video.

The 58-year-old cricketer-turned-commentator also commends the Indian management for giving freedom to its players to express themselves in the middle. Ramiz Raja opines that the youngsters are fortunate to be part of the current system in Indian cricket.
He also points out that the Indian team is filled with superstar cricketers at the moment, and the new players coming in would learn immensely from the seniors.
“You are backed by the management and your talent is groomed here. You are given the license to out and play fearlessly because we believe in your talent and abilities. The learning is great and you get to pick on the cricket awareness present in this dugout. This is a fantastic moment, time, and phase for youngsters to be a part of this great dugout, which will help them grow immensely in their careers,” the 1992 World Cup winner maintained.
