During the India vs England third and final ODI match at the Lord’s Cricket Ground, London, former India World Cup winner Yuvraj Singh, who was present in the stadium, shared his views on the buzz of Rohit Sharma’s retirement and also on Virat Kohli’s future for the ODI World Cup 2027.

Yuvraj Singh, during the mid-innings show while speaking on JioHotstar, stated that the management should stick with the two stalwarts of Indian cricket, as the India National Cricket Team would need their experience in big tournaments like the World Cup, and they cannot rely on young guns for these tournaments.

Yuvraj Singh backs Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma over World Cup future

While speaking on JioHotstar, Yuvi said that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma should secure their place for the ODI World Cup next year and also slammed the media for making an issue out of it when the two are not performing.

Yuvi said, “It's up to the management who they want to stick with. Ideally, you need experience in the team. You can't just go with young guys, or you just can't go with only experience in the team. You have to match it. And I believe that if they have to play the World Cup, they have to be secured now.”

“The media is always going to bring up the moment they don't perform, age and form, and all this is going to come. Whatever noise is outside, let it be outside,” Yuvraj said in an interview with Star Sports during the mid-innings break for the third ODI.

"Have clarity with your most experienced players"- Yuvraj Singh urges transparency for senior players

Yuvraj Singh also stressed that the Indian team management should be completely transparent with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli regarding their ODI futures, as they have served Indian cricket for so long and are the most experienced guys in the team.

“Whatever your plans are, if you want these guys to go for the World Cup, you tell them now, and you secure them now. That's great, you are going to the World Cup, don't worry about anything.”

“Or if you feel that someone is not fitting, tell them, it's going to look bad, it's going to be a hard call, but eventually the guy will appreciate that you said it on his face,” he added.

“That is my opinion. Have clarity with your most experienced players. Virat and Rohit, what they have done for India is unmatchable. It's unbelievable the number of hundreds they have scored, the games they have won for India, what they have contributed to the field as players, as captains, it's unmatched. But you need to have clarity with your seniors,” said Yuvraj.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma performance against England

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are currently featuring against England, with the latter struggling a bit with form as he needs just one innings to get back to his form and silence all the critics.

Kohli already smacked a fifty in the second game, but it came in a losing cause. Rohit, in the third match, has looked good so far.
