Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) has joined the list of cricketing bodies to show their solidarity with the families of CRPF personnels martyred in Pulwama attack.

In the wake of the terror attack, India have been doing all it can to make Pakistan pay for the dastardly way.  On Thursday, a suicide bomber from the Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a CRPF bus in Pulwama district, killing at least 40 personnel and leaving many critically wounded. The bus was on the Srinagar-Jammu highway in Lethpora town, about 30 km from Srinagar when the attack took place. The entire nation is in a state of shock as well as furious following the gruesome attack.

The Cricket Club of India had covered the portrait of former Pakistan skipper Imran Khan in its restaurant. On Sunday, the PCA stadium in Mohali had removed the pictures of the Pakistani players. IMG-Reliance then dealt a huge blow to Pakistan Cricket Board by cutting its ties with it. IMG-Reliance had signed a deal to produce television coverage of the ongoing PSL.  Before that, DSport, which was broadcasting the game in India, had also stopped the coverage.

And now HPCA has also followed suit. They have removed 13 photos of Pakistani cricketers including former skippers Imran Khan and Wasim Akram that were hung inside the HPCA stadium.

“We have decided to remove all the photos of Pakistani players from our stadium to express solidarity with the families of CRPF martyred troopers in Pulwama attack,” HPCA stadium Manager Col H.S. Manhas told reporters.

The picturesque stadium had hosted a warm-up tie between the touring Pakistan team and the Indian Board President’s XI in 2005. Officials said most of the removed photos were of the warm-up tie between Pakistan and India.

An avid cricket lover, I just love this game more than anything. Writing about cricket keeps me closer to the game.
