The Rohit Sharma-Rahul Dravid era has witnessed new dawn of Indian cricket. After Virat Kohli left the captaincy reins, dynamic opener Rohit Sharma was bestowed with the responsibility of marshalling the Men in Blue. On the other hand, Rahul Dravid took the position at the helm from Ravi Shastri.

While the pair has given Indian cricket a wholesome taste of success, there have been debates cropping up regarding their management style. The hot topic of conversation, however, has been the ignorance of some promising players who were previously involved in the spanner of works.

3 Indian Players Who Can Soon Retire Due To Ignorance Of Rohit Sharma-Rahul Dravid Era

Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav is almost a forgotten name in Indian cricket. He is given chances few and far between. He was a consistent member of the Indian team, especially in white-ball cricket between 2017 and 2019. Since the 50-over World Cup in 2019, the chinaman bowler has hardly been given consistent opportunities.

His last ODI for India was against Zimbabwe earlier this year in August. He took two wickets in the game for 38 runs. In his last T20I for India against West Indies in August this year, he took 3 for 12 in the game that he played. Ashwin was chosen ahead of Kuldeep despite not having a good Asia Cup.

Varun Aaron

Heralded for his pace, Varun Aaron last played for India in 2015. Although he is not worried about the cut-throat competition and is hopeful of his India comeback, Aaron revealed he is competing with himself only and believes he can play for any team at his best.

The Indian cricket team currently has a plethora of options in the fast bowling department and has serious competition. So, making a comeback for Aaron after suffering many injuries won’t be easy. However, the Jharkhand-born cricketer is optimistic about his chances.

The experienced fast bowler was bought by the champions Gujarat Titans at the IPL 2022 mega auction and he played two matches for them during the season.

Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson didn’t do anything wrong to be left out of Team India’s squad for so long. Since making a comeback to the T20I squad earlier this year, he has registered scores of 39, 18, 77, 30* and 15. In ODIs this year, he has notched up 12, 54, six*, 43* and 13.

The numbers are pretty impressive. To add to that, he has been excellent behind the wickets as well. He has taken some brilliant catches, displaying acrobatic skills. Unfortunately for the Kerala gloveman, Pant and DK were always above him in the pecking order.

There is bound to be some criticism over Pant’s selection in India’s squad for the T20 World Cup because he has a pedestrian T20I record. However, the left-hander has that X factor about him that cannot be ignored. Hence, Samson has to make way, and this constant rejection might see him call the quits and focus only on domestic cricket.
