ToggleThe all-rounder slot is something, which has always been a tough spot to fill in the Indian National Cricket Team. However, after a fine time, Hardik Pandya took the role and delivering the goods for the team. Meanwhile, the standby list for the very same slot has been pretty low in number just in a case of any injuries or unfortunate scenarios. However, as always, IPL will be the platform to search for an all-rounder. Meanwhile, we figured out 5 Indian all-rounders to watch out in IPL 2019.
Here are they:
5. Krishnappa Gowtham:
Team – Rajasthan Royals
The Karnataka all-rounder has been the headliner when Rajasthan Royals bought him for a huge price. Unfortunately, he failed to live up to the expectations in the first half of the tournament for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2018. However, he stood up at the right moment to give a few miracle victories for the team.
It certainly pushed the franchise to stick with him. Now, he has been an experienced member of the team and can deliver the goods without pressure. He also got a decent domestic season under his belt. It would be interesting to see whether he gets any promotion in the batting order.
4. Washington Sundar:
Team – Royal Challengers Bangalore
The Tamil Nadu all-rounder was in the scheme of things for ICC World Cup 2019 but unfortunately, his skills slowly dipped and lost a place in the side. He was quickly replaced by the other players in the team and performed superbly to make it tough for Sundar’s comeback.
However, a good chance for Sundar would be Indian Premier League 2019. He also got the added advantage of staying in Virat Kohli’s team. Who knows he can land in Indian team if he impresses Virat Kohli with scintillating performances.
3. Shivam Dube:
Team – Royal Challengers Bangalore
The youngster would certainly be in the radar during the upcoming Indian Premier League 2019. He has been a revelation in the recently-concluded Ranji Trophy 2018-19 season with his skills in both sections of the game.
Besides that, Dubey’s big-hitting abilities came into limelight when he whacked five sixes in an over off leggie Pravin Tambe, during the eliminator game of inaugural Mumbai T20 league earlier this year. Certainly, he would be the player to watch out. Why not when he is from such a rare breed of a fast-bowling all-rounder.
2. Axar Patel:
Team – Delhi Daredevils
The Gujarat all-rounder has been the top contributor for Kings XI Punjab over the seasons. Surprisingly, he has been released by the team and now, he is all set to play for Delhi Capitals in Indian Premier League 2019.
He has been one of the unluckiest cricketers in the Indian team. He never got the chances to prove his mettle in the side, as he was always asked to warm the bench. Despite that, he has been removed from the team and never a gave look again.
However, the only way he can prove his worth is by performing in the upcoming edition. He is the economical bowler, who also got the skills to bowl in powerplay overs. And also, a very handy batsman down the order.
1. Vijay Shankar:
Team – Sunrisers Hyderabad
The Indian all-rounder is slowly coming into his zone for the Indian National Cricket Team. He did reasonably well in the series against New Zealand. He secured the trust of the team to bat at number 3 position for the team in the shorter version of the game.
However, he is yet to reserve his place in the ICC World Cup 2019. With Hardik Pandya being the first-choice all-rounder, Vijay Shankar needs to perform exceptionally in IPL 2019 to push selectors to go with 2 fast bowling all-rounders for the grand event.
