Veteran Indian commentator Aakash Chopra has named his all-time CSK XI with MS Dhoni being the obvious choice captain. CSK has been one of the most successful franchises of the tournament so far with 3 IPL titles to their name. They won their maiden IPL title in 2010, retained it in 2011, and then grabbed their hands on it for the third time in 2018, after coming back from a two-year ban.

CSK has been the best team of the tournament so far when it comes to winning games. They have reached the playoffs in every season that they have played. The Chennai-based franchise has also won the tournament thrice and has dominated the most competitive T20 franchise league tournament in the world like a boss.

In its glorious run in the IPL, the Chennai based franchise has witnessed a plethora of superstars over the years. Hence, it has been a difficult choice for Aakash Chopra.

To start off his CSK XI, Aakash Chopra chose Mr Cricket– Michael Hussey as the first opener. To compliment Hussey, Chopra went with Muraj Vijay as he is the fourth-highest run-scorer for the franchise including the highest score of 127.

For the No.3 spot, Chopra picked up Suresh Raina in his side. Following Raina, Chopra slotted Shane Watson as the No.4 batsman in his team. Chopra further picked MS Dhoni as the wicketkeeper as well as the skipper of the squad. The former India skipper has been phenomenal for Chennai Super Kings and led them to 3 IPL titles.

Chopra then slotted Ravindra Jadeja into the side on the back of his all-round ability. Following Jadeja, another impressive all-rounder, Dwayne Bravo, was also picked up by Aakash Chopra. Albie Morkel, who has scalped 76 wickets for CSK along with scoring runs at an impressive strike rate of 144.8, was also picked by Chopra in his side.

Aakash Chopra then picked up Ravichandran Ashwin, Deepak Chahar and Ashish Nehra for their wicket-taking abilities. All three bowlers have also donned the Indian jersey in their career and have delivered consistent performances.

Dark Clouds Looms Large Over IPL 2020 Future

IPL 2020 was scheduled to start from March 29, but due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the BCCI postponed it until April 15. As the nationwide lockdown extended in India, BCCI suspended IPL 2020 Indefinitely. Now, with the situation worsening, it seems a huge possibility that IPL stands nothing but cancelled this year.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is now looking at the October-November window for the IPL. But the move can be possible only if the ICC decides to postpone the 2020 T20 World Cup that is to be held in October, this year, according to some sources in the board.

On April 10, latest reports suggested that the BCCI is probing into the July window to conduct the IPL and it could take place behind closed doors. However, recently all hopes have once again vanished as the BCCI has suspended the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 indefinitely in the light of the coronavirus pandemic.
