Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra performed a swot analysis of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the upcoming IPL edition. CSK has been arguably the most consistent franchise in history, having made to the playoffs every season they played in, playing in eight finals, and lifting the trophy thrice. During the analysis, Aakash Chopra named Mumbai Indians as the biggest threat to MS Dhoni’s men.

Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings have shared quite the rivalry over the years. Since 2010, the two sides have met in the final four times, out of which Mumbai has won thrice. Even in the last season, Mumbai emerged victorious narrowly in the final, beating the yellow army by one run. Even in the head to head, Mumbai Indians have the upper hand, winning 17 out of the 28 clashes between them.
When speaking about threats, Aakash Chopra named Mumbai Indians as the biggest threat for Chennai. The 42-year old highlighted that the four-time champions has been one team against whom Chennai has been unable to showcase their magic and had their number.
“Talking about the threats, they have Mumbai Indians as their biggest threat. If you see the history of the IPL, this is one team against whom they have not been able to display their magic. They tend to lose to the Mumbai Indians,” Chopra told in his Youtube channel.
“The squad is very tight-knit, you don’t have too much manoeuvrability” : Aakash Chopra
Aakash further said that since the heat would be present in the UAE and back to back matches taking place, Chennai’s squad is tight-knit, allowing little room for manoeuvrability. He feels that there are only limited match-winners in the party, having no match-winners beyond those.
“One more thing is that, it is going to be extremely hot in the UAE. That is another threat, because in that heat you would be playing back to back matches, the squad is very tight-knit, you don’t have too much manoeuvrability. There are some players in the team whom you may not be able to play because they do not have match-winners beyond their top 15-16 players,” he added.
