The last few days have been tough for KL Rahul in international cricket. He failed to make things happen for himself, as it has been a long time since watch KL Rahul getting a big tally for the team. Meanwhile, the cricketer-turned-analyst Aakash Chopra believes that Shubman Gill might push for a place ahead of KL Rahul.

Earlier, ahead of Shubman Gill making his debut, Aakash Chopra quoted that the youngster looks pretty promising and looking forward to seeing him play the game. However, it wasn’t a great debut, as the youngster failed to make his mark against the classy Trent Boult.

Despite the knock, Aakash Chopra believes that Shubman Gill has got the ingredients to push for an ICC World Cup 2019 slot. With Virat Kohli not being part of the next few games, Gill might push the selectors if he gets big tallies under his kitty.

Shubman Gill is very promising – Aakash Chopra

Meanwhile, on the other side, KL Rahul is failing to knock scores in his appearances either for India or India A. He even lost his place in Test matches and also performed pretty poorly in a recent couple of unofficial ODI games against England Lions.

Digging into Aakash Chopra’s tweet, it read ”Looking forward to seeing him bat. Very promising. Good luck. Since Kohli was likely to miss a major part of this NZ tour, Rahul’s exclusion from the set-up puts his spot for WC in serious doubt.”

Shubman Gill will probably get a one more go in the final ODI of the series while KL Rahul’s fate will be decided on his next India A stint against England Lions in a 4-day game. A century in the 4-day game will solve all the sorts for Karnataka youngster.
