Aakash Chopra, the former Indian opener-turned commentator, is delighted at the prospect that former Indian captain and the current leader of the Chennai Super Kings [CSK] MS Dhoni might continue to play in the IPL till 2022.

Chopra’s comments came after Kasi Viswanathan, the CEO of Chennai Super Kings, recently said that MS Dhoni is likely to spearhead the franchise even in the 2022 edition of the cash-rich league.

“We don’t worry about him at all. Yes, We can expect MS Dhoni to be part of both (IPL 2020 and 2021) and probably for even the next year: 2022. I am not complaining one bit because you don’t see MS Dhoni play regularly these days, he is seen only for Chennai Super Kings.” CSK CEO had said.

Expressing his delight at the news, Aakash Chopra took to his official Youtube channel where he said-

“If we listen to what the CSK CEO has said, he is saying that MS Dhoni will not be with them only for now but for a long time to come and will also be seen playing. And I am very happy.” Aakash Chopra said on his Youtube channel.

MS Dhoni hasn’t played or India since the 2019 World Cup semi-final. Chopra reasoned that Dhoni turning out for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL is probably the only time when we can see the talismanic former Indian captain on the cricket field these days.

Aakash Chopra is hoping that MS Dhoni continues to feature for CSK in the IPL. And, such is his eagerness to see the former Indian captain marshall his troops on the field, Chopra reckoned that he will even pay double the ticket amount to watch Dhoni play.

“If he can continue playing for them for years to come, Dhoni never get retired. I will pay double the ticket price to watch you play. So that will be absolutely fantastic.” he added.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni has returned negative for Covid-19 PCR tests and he will now join CSK’s one-week training camp in Chennai.
