Pat Cummins, the Australian fast bowler, raked in the moolah last IPL auction when he became the highest-paid overseas cricketer in the history of the cash-rich league.

Cummins, who is currently the No.1 ranked Test bowler in the world, was racked up Kolkata Knight Riders for a whopping Rs 15.5 crore after a heated bidding war. All eyes were on Pat Cummins in KKR’s opening game of the 2020 season against Mumbai Indians on Wednesday but the premier Aussie bowler did not have the best of starts to his campaign.

With Rohit Sharma and Surya Kumar Yadav looking in ominous touch, skipper Dinesh Karthik turned to his ace past the fast bowler, but the results, sadly for Cummins and KKR, was the same. Cummins started his IPL campaign with a wide down the leg-side post which Rohit Sharma smoked the fast bowler for two nonchalant sixes over deep square-leg and deep midwicket.

Pat Cummins ended up conceding 15 runs in his first over and former Indian opener-turner commentator Aakash Chopra proceeded to take a dig at the Australian on Twitter.

बहुत महंगे थे Auction में…बहुत महंगे रहे पहले ओवर में भी। #PatCummins #IPL2020 #KKRvsMI
