2017 has been a rollercoaster ride for Indian cricket as they have shattered many records to become one of the strongest forces to reckon in world cricket right now. The young Indian team under the leadership of Virat Kohli has grown in strength and stature from time to time as they have decimated every opponent they have played with. As the year came to an end, former India Test opener Aakash Chopra reveals the find of 2017 in Indian cricket.
This year has witnessed many young cricketers making their debut in India jersey as the team management has rotated the players on a constant basis in an attempt to create a pool of cricketers going into the ICC 2019 World Cup.
The most debated cricketers were the new spinning duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, who replaced Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja in the limited overs squad. Since then, they have been magnificent with the ball doing the bulk of the job in the middle overs. The batsman from Mumbai Shreyas Iyer also showed his mettle in the limited opportunities he got during Sri Lanka series. Young pacers like Mohammad Siraj also made it to the squad with an impressive show in the Indian Premier League.

The 27-year-old Chahal is the highest wicket-taker in T20Is in this calendar year. He has bagged 23 wickets in 11 matches with an astonishing average of 14.13 on his way to becoming a match winner for India. In the fifty over format, Chahal has picked 21 wickets in 14 matches with an economy rate of 4.95, which is remarkable.
