Star Australian cricketers Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Finch will miss the opening fixture of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Finch will marry his partner Amy Griffiths on April 7 which will keep him away from the opening game. While Maxwell will miss the first game as he is expected to be the Master of Ceremonies (MC) of the wedding.
Previously, Finch knew that the tournament will begin from April 15. But as per new schedule, the tournament will kick start from April 7.
Meanwhile, Finch’s franchise Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) will take on Maxwell’s Delhi Daredevils (DD) on April 8.

Aaron Finch expected to join KXIP in the 2nd game:
However, Finch will reach India before KXIP’s second fixture on April 13.
“I saw the fixture this morning – there’s no chance I’ll be missing my wedding,” Finch said to cricket.com.au.
“That’d be a bit tough leaving Amy at the altar, wouldn’t it?” The second game we play is on the 13th, that’ll give me plenty of time to get over there and miss only one game luckily,” Finch added.
However, Finch feels with Brad Hodge as the coach it won’t be a problem as he knows about it.
“Having one of my good mates ‘Hodgey’ as coach … he knows about it now. I did wait a bit longer to send him the invite before the auction. It’s just a case of missing one game but hopefully playing with Kings over a three-year period, it’s not the end of the world,” Finch said.

Also, Finch expects no other high-profile Australian players to miss the beginning of the IPL due to his wedding.
“Guys like Davey (Warner) and that, they’ve got a job to do for their franchises so I’m sure they’ll be in India,” Finch concluded.
