Aaron Finch, Australia’s limited-overs captain, had plenty of self doubts piling up due to his poor form against India in January 2019. Under his captaincy, Australia lost the One-Day International (ODI) series 1-2 in their own backyard to India.

“How am I in a position to tell someone to do their job right, if I’m not doing my own right,” Aaron Finch said expressing his distress in an episode of The Test on Amazon Prime.

Australia head coach Justin Langer and teammates put their back behind Aaron Finch, when he was finding it difficult to withstand the premier India bowlers and score runs.

In fact, when Finch said, he is constantly trying to score runs but failing, Langer tried to boost up his morale. The former Australia batsman said, that he should be himself and try to keep all the negative thoughts away.

“I’ve been searching for scores… I’m constantly thinking to get some runs at top of the order to get the pressure off many,” Aaron Finch said.

Aaron Finch had been Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s bunny in January 2019. The Australian captain found it hard to play Bhuvneshwar’s inswinging delivery and gave away his wicket time and again.

Recalling the tough time, Aaron Finch said, he woke up at night thinking Bumrah will dismiss him again in the next match and Bhuvneshwar’s length delivery which nipped back in to him.

“There were times I woke up at night…thinking about getting out, thinking I’ facing Bumrah again tomorrow, he’s getting me out for fun. Wake up thinking Bhuvneshwar has got me out a lot of times with the ball coming back in,” Aaron Finch said.
