The batting sensation AB De Villiers justified why he has been signed by one of the underperforming franchises in the Big Bash League (BBL 2020). The ongoing tournament has the fans hooked up to a non-stop entertainment of cricket. With the former South African cricketer joining Brisbane Heat, their middle-order has received a much-needed boost. Known for clearing the boundary effortlessly, the 35-year-old hammered a gigantic six against the Melbourne Stars at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

In match 53 of the season, nine of the BBL, table-toppers Melbourne Stars squared off against Heat, who are languishing at the second last spot.

Moreover, the visitors, electing to bat first, rode on several contributions by Sam Heazlett, Ben Cutting, Chris Lynn, and Marns Labuschagne. But the highlight remained De Villiers’ knock of 71 off 37 balls. Thus, his knock played a significant role in catapulting Heat to 186 for the loss of five wickets.

The retired Proteas’ cricketer smacked six maximums and two boundaries in his entertaining knock of 71. The monstrous six he hit came in the 18th over of the match when he pounced on a full-length delivery off the newly-recruited bowler, Dilbar Hussain.

De Villiers was quick to latch on to it, stayed deep in the crease to send the ball way over long-on into the stands.

The veteran made a steady start to his knock. However, he compensated for it by increasing the tempo of his innings.

Eventually, he mustered 55 runs off his last 18 deliveries before Hussain took his wicket in the last ball of their innings. Since the time he featured for the Heat in the Australian T20 extravaganza.

Interestingly, talks are lingering over his international return ahead of the World T20 later this year in Australia.
