Former India skipper and head coach Anil Kumble, on Saturday, turned 50. The bowling legend is widely regarded as Indian cricket’s greatest-ever match-winner. Anil Kumble made his debut as a 19-year-old in 1990 and brought down curtains on his illustrious career in 2008.

With 619 wickets in Tests and 337 in ODIs, he is India’s highest wicket-taker in both the formats. He also holds the record for getting 10 wickets in a single innings of a Test match. Apart from him, only Jim Laker has achieved the incredible feat. Anil Kumble also has a Test century to his name which came in England.

But more than the records, it was his match-winning performances that has made him one of the most prominent figures in Indian cricket. He took 288 wickets in Test victories.

And as Anil Kumble turned 50, his fans and colleagues from the field have been pouring love for him on social media.  Thousands of greetings poured in for the legendary cricketer but the one that has caught the fans’ eyes is from India skipper Virat Kohli.

Soon after Virat Kohli wished the former India head coach, fans started expressing their surprise as they recalled the infamous incident in 2017 when Anil Kumble had to step down from the post of head coach. After resigning, Anil Kumble had stated that Virat Kohli’s reservations over his ‘style’ of coaching were the reason behind his decision.

But it looks like both Kumble and Kohli have buried the hatchet as the batting superstar took to Twitter to wish the bowling legend, writing:

“Wish you a very happy birthday Anil Bhai @anilkumble1074. Have a great day.”

And the fans were quick to come up with interesting replies to the tweet. Most of the fans were surprised to see the tweet with some even suggesting that Kohli’s account has been hacked. Here are some of the reactions:
